General Introduction

Press-locked bar grating features a system of interlocking perpendicular bars that offer the same degree of strength, durability and openness as welded bar grating. However, instead of welding the joints together, press-locked architectural bar grating products rely on the application of enormous hydraulic pressure that fuses the two close-tolerance slotted bars together. Permanent locking is achieved by forcing the deep crossbar into the notched bearing bar. This type of grating can be manufactured from stainless steel, carbon steel or aluminum.

Because of a production technology which differs significantly from that used for the press welded grating, and which enables a much greater variety of products, this type of grating provides for an almost unlimited number of applications. Its design allows for great flexibility regarding the mesh size and the height and thickness of the bearing bars. In combination with the variety of materials from which press locked grating can be manufactured, we produce grating that are exactly in line with the customer‘s wishes and the intended use. We do not claim that the press locked grating is the better grating, but it is certainly the more attractive and individually customised grating compared to the press welded grating.

For a press-locked grating, the cross bars – which as a rule are made of cold-rolled flat steel – are pressed into the previously punched-out bearing bars. The banding bars are designed as T-shaped or flat sections, and are attached by means of automatic resistance welding. If there is an increased risk of slipping, press locked grating can be manufactured in an anti-skid design. For this, the bearing and/or cross bars are notched on the upper side. With press locked grating, the opposite end meshes are usually of equal size. But here, too, applies what has been said above: there is almost no limit to the imaginable uses and designs of press locked grating.

Types of press-locked grating

     1. Full-locked grating. Both the bearing bars and cross bars are notched and have the same height. They are interlocked with one another under extreme pressure.

     2. Heavy-duty pressed grating. Both the bearing bar and cross bar are notched, but they have the different heights. The bearing bars are higher than the cross bars and they are interlocked with each other also at a high pressure.

     3. Common press-locked grating. Only the bearing bars are notched and the cross bars are common plain steel. They have different height and are locked with each other at a very high pressure.

      4. Louver grating. The notches of bearing bars are at a angle of 30° or 45°. The cross bars are insert into the bearing bars before being pressed. This type is widely used in the places where the privacy is very important. It can also be used as sunshade of the buildings.

Specifications of press-locked steel grating

Integral (Full-locked)  type

• The bearing bar of integral steel grating has the same height as cross bar. The grooving depth is 1/2 of bearing bar.

• The height of the steel grating is less than 100 mm. and the length usually less than 2000 mm.

• The standard height of bearing bar: 20 mm to 100 mm.

• The standard thickness of bearing bar: 2 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm.

Heavy duty steel grating type

• Heavy duty steel grating is bit by bearing bar and cross bar in the 1200 tons of pressure under the molding. It is suitable for high load bearing occasions.

• The standard height of bearing bar: 80 mm to 200 mm.

• The standard thickness of bearing bar: 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm.

Common Press-locked type:

• After the grooving of bearing bar, the cross bar press locked and molded.

• Maximum machining height of common steel grating is 100 mm, the length of steel grating is less than 2000 mm.

• The standard height of bearing bar: 20 mm to 170 mm.

• The standard thickness of bearing bar: 2 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm.

Louver steel grating type

• The bearing bar of louver steel grating open the chute with 30° or 45°. The cross bar grooved and press locked.

• The grating height is less than 100 mm.

• The standard height of bearing bar: 30 mm to 100 mm.

• The standard thickness of bearing bar: 2 mm, 3 mm.

       Although pressure-locked bar grating can sustain the same weight as welded grating, it’s not recommended for applications where vehicular or rolling loads are commonplace.
